CPD SLC

A new glow group is now up and running which Con Morris from LTS has been working on with Jim Reid and May Boyd from SLC. It’s looking good, and as it takes off will become a useful place for sharing practice and CPD experiences.

Thanks to help from Caroline I’ve managed to embed some video in the area glow group and Jaye helped with setting up a calendar. I’m all pleased with doing this! This is a glow drop which might be useful for those now moving forward with glow – lots of links to what’s being said

It’s a long weekend and I’m glad of some time to gather my thoughts. A couple of those HMIe boxes have landed in our schools over the past weeks and I’m sure the staff there are even more glad of the time off.

Karl Fischer mentioned Darren Draper’s site and I found his sharing of this bit from Carl Glickman’s book thought provoking. I have to agree this should be compulsory reading for all us teachers!

  1. Andrea, good to see you picking up the Drop.io that I’d popped up on my blog. I never really thought of keeping it up as a regular update of new Glow comments and issues but I might try to although it may just more or less replicate the Scotsedublogs RSS feed.

Can I suggest you alter the link you’ve put on your page and knock the word ‘blog’ off the end of the link. The drop will then always open with the explanatory note at the top of the page which makes more sense. New links will be at the top of the pile!!

    Regards,
    Alan

  2. I’ve done what you suggested. Thanks for that. See QIOs do listen sometimes after all!!

  3. The change doesn’t appear to have worked – no matter. QIOs always listen, don’t they?

  4. Done it again, seems ok now. Of course all QIOs listen! Could anyone doubt that?

  5. Nice to see your comments on our CPD SLC Glow Group. May Boyd is demonstrating the use of the Glow Group to our CPD Coordinators at the next round of CPD Coordinator meetings. The first two of these meetings took place today. However, can I now right two omissions or my life will not be worth living. Margaret Tracey and Stephanie Farquharson were also part of the team who constructed the Glow group with Con.

  6. Omissions sorted. They may have put me on a hit list if you hadn’t told me! Thanks Jim. Con is coming to see me at the end of the month so I can get some tips off him for the Rutherglen/Cambuslang one. I’m getting positive feedback as I introduce this to HTs when I’m visiting establishments – some have said it will be a useful group to help introduce whole staff to some of the possiblities and I’m sure they’ll find the CPD one exciting as they see it over the next couple of weeks
